Katee Sackhoff – New 24 Cast Member??

June 8th, 2009 by Mike2GuysTalking

It’s time for a little bit of 2GuysTalking Confessional.

I REALLY DON’T LIKE Katee Sackhoff.

Can I get some of the readership here to provide me something in the way of justification for the changing of my opinion?  She is a much-liked character on BSG, but – I’ll always remember her as the actress/character that compeltely detoured the new “BIONIC WOMAN” series that never really had a chance regardless of how many good actors and tech surrounded her.

So let the justification begin! -Mike2GuysTalking

Scoop: Katee Sackhoff makes time for ’24′
Jun 8, 2009, 03:11 PM | by Michael Ausiello

Kateesackhoff_l Suddenly, I find myself counting the minutes until 24′s new season. Perhaps this is why: Katee Sackhoff is joining the cast!

Sources confirm to me exclusively that the Battlestar Galactica heroine has been tapped to play the series regular role of Dana Walsh, a highly respected and down-to-earth data analyst at the new and improved New York branch of CTU.

Galactica-Galore – Prepare for the Final Asault…

November 24th, 2008 by Mike2GuysTalking

It was a series that made my imagination soar when I was a kid – not because of the science fiction, not because of the kid-centric storylines that danced through like the ever-rotating partners of “Dance With the Stars” in the emotive camp of the late 70′s.  It was the time that I spent creating my own stories of adventure inside our three bedroom apartment to keep myself occupied during a time of family crisis with the action figures, the spacecraft and my wild imagination to do cool things that others hadn’t done yet.  When the NEW Galactica grew wings to become a true, award-winning and well-followed show, there was a bit of that same feeling, but – finally I think it all came down to time or the lack thereof that just simply meant the inability to watch it regularly.

Now, we approach the END of this much-heralded series and I am awaiting t he true finale of this series.  Mostly because I want to catch up on the great, NEW podcast that we have on the network, The Galactica Quorum, who will be following the last throes of this series as it airs on television.  Are you a Galactica Fan?  Have you started watching the NEW BSG?  You need to be sure to take a listen to The Galactica Quorum Podcast now, and be sure to tell us what you think we can expect when the final entries of the series arrive.  I know I will enjoy reading them as I begin and complete this great series via DVD and ultimately in HD in my home theater. –Mike2GuysTalking

Battlestar Galactica 2-Hour Special Coming in 2009
Source: SCI FI Channel
August 7, 2008

SCI FI Channel today announced an all-new “Battlestar Galactica” special event, set to air in 2009 following the conclusion of the series and then released on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment shortly thereafter. Directed by series star Edward James Olmos and written by “Battlestar Galactica’s” Jane Espenson, the two-hour event will begin shooting in Vancouver at the end of this summer. The cast includes Michael Trucco, Aaron Douglas and Dean Stockwell, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting before the events of the miniseries, our story focuses on familiar characters including Cylon Number One, known as Cavil (Stockwell), Resistance Leader Sam T. Anders (Trucco) and Chief Galen Tyrol (Douglas). In the beginning, the Cylons had a plan, but it didn’t account for one thing: survivors. During the chaotic aftermath of the destruction, two powerful Cylon agents struggle with plots and priorities on the human ships that got away, and among the resistance fighters who were left behind.

The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

The final 10 episodes of “Battlestar Galactica” will begin airing on SCI FI Channel in 2009.

Strikewatch Exclusive! TV Bosses Reveal What’s Next for Our Favorite Shows

February 11th, 2008 by ESBaker

Kristen of E-Online has some news about what will happen to numerous shows for the remainder of the season now that the WGA strike is over. Some of the shows mentioned in this article are not discussed in this blog. I wish we would. Some are just absolutely fabulous new additions. A big example is PUSHING DAISIES.—ESBaker

After three long months of winter, as icy winds swept through the deserted studio lots while production after production went into hibernation, there are signs that spring is here, and our favorite shows may soon return! (Can we get a hell yes?!)

Of course, the biggest question for us TV fans is which beloved shows will—or won’t—come back this season.

We’ve checked in with the show runners of some of the fans’ favorite series (like Lost’s Damon Lindelof, Friday Night Lights’ Jason Katims, Pushing Daisies’ Bryan Fuller and Gossip Girl and Chuck’s Josh Schwartz) for their reaction to the strike’s end and when we’ll get more episodes.

Read on to get the scoop! (And check back for more updates on all our other favorite shows as we receive them.)

Jen’s Favorite Dramas Of ’07

January 7th, 2008 by JSmith

Holy cow, what a slacker I am. Two weeks of vacation was obviously not a good idea. But I’m back at work now, and ready to rock my favorite dramas of ’07. This list doesn’t include Dexter which I have not seen (but is airing on CBS come February 17) or The Sopranos which I gave up on because of the violence. Those are the two shows I’d probably take a beating for not including. Oh, and The Wire which I hope to start as the strike lingers on. What dramas did you like in ’07?

Mad Men
I frequently called this the most boring brilliant show on television, and it might’ve been just that. It’s been quite a while, if ever, since we’ve seen a show so rich in color, history, and character nuances. I was lucky enough to see it in HD from Comcast OnDemand and that just heightened the experience. The costumes were exquisite, the acting was so subtly gorgeous, the actors not pretty faces, but normal faces of every day and the stories which might be constrewed as boring to some, was just laced with the subtle stories of life in 1960. Also easily had the acting find of the year in Jon Hamm, who’s previous claim to fame was an episode of Gilmore Girls. His Don Draper WAS Mad Men, and if award shows weren’t such a joke, he’d clean up.

Who says the summer has to be boring anymore? Where has THIS show been hiding all of my life?! An amazingly fantastic serial law drama in which we never stepped foot into a courtroom. Nary a word was wasted in this show, each plot thread and flashback intricately weaving through the storyline with ease and grace. And what can be said about the brilliance of Ted Danson and Glenn Close? Pound for pound, the best acting we’ve seen on tv in 2007. Work that into a fantastic story and you’ve got the perfect tv show.

Gilmore Girls
While it was nowhere near it’s glory days, I have to wish a fond farewell to my beloved Gilmore Girls which wrapped up it’s seven seasons this May. While the seventh season was anything but mediocre, the last five episodes really brought us back to the glory days of the show, and it had what is easily the best series finale in recent memory (I’m looking at you, X Files and Seinfeld). It’s amazing what not knowing about coming back for another year can do for you wrapping up a show. And I’ve already waxed poetic enough about Lauren Graham on this humble blog, so I won’t say any more about what an utter genius she is. She narrates a heck of a Plum card commercial as well.

Is it fair to include a show that had a bunch of mediocre episodes leading to an absolutely brilliant season finale? Yup. No matter how many missteps this show has had in it’s third season (I’m looking at YOU Nikki and Paulo), the finale took them all and ate them for breakfast. Whether you had your “oh my god, he’s in the FUTURE!” moment when you saw Jack lift the Razr phone to his ear (I only wish I could be that astute) or when he’s having his conversation with Kate at the end, the effect was the same. This show has now lifted the bar up over the heads of all other shows for mind blowing moments of excellence….

Battlestar Galactica
…except for maybe the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. Colonel Tigh and the Chief are Cylons?! Shut. Up! Starbuck is alive? Double shut up! Mary McDonald proved that she’s the best actress working on TV today, and that the fact that a woman president, fictional or not, might not be such a bad idea. She plays President Laura Roslin with such subtle grace that you feel like you’d follow her to the ends of the earth. Or maybe to earth. We’ve got one more season of what I think is the best drama on television and I fully trust Ron Moore to give us the ride of our lives.

Friday Night Lights
I really like FNL, but I don’t want to marry it like so many of those before me. I do agree that it is the most “real” show on television, and I do love it for that. But I don’t have a soft spot for angsty teenage drama like most do. But I do find each of the characters compelling in their own ways, and would watch an hour of Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton reading the phone book if I could. My favorite part of the show doesn’t have to do with the stories at all, but the fact that they just put the actors in whatever space the scene is taking place, stick three cameras in there (one on each actor and one for the wide shot) and just let the actors go. No marks to hit, no camera blocking. Just real movements and I think that comes through and makes the show what it is.

Early screenings of “Razor”

October 24th, 2007 by bigorangemichael

Seems that someone over at Sci-Fi forgot to include 2 Guys Talking on the mailing list for the screener copies of the upcoming Battlestar Galactica movie, “Razor.”

Either that or it was delivered and Jennifer Smith just hasn’t told me about it, instead keeping the screener to herself.   But I doubt that would happen…no, if we had received it and she had it, she’d tease me with knowledge and spoilers of the upcoming two-hour TV movie event.

So, we don’t have that…

And we also don’t have a free screening of “Razor” anywhere in our geographic area.  The screenings will take place Nov 12th in Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and Chicago.

If you live in one of those cities or close enough by to drive, fly or hitchhike to a screening, you will have to register.  It’s first-come, first-serve and you can’t register until Friday.   You can register at the site battlestarevent.com.

So, if any of our faithful readers get to go, I’d love to hear about it….but if you give me any SPOILERS, I will be forced to send a cougar to your home….

Battlestar Galactica to END After Season 4…

June 1st, 2007 by Mike2GuysTalking

Kudos to the creative team, in understanding that 4 outstanding seasons of a show, far outweigh the completion of a franchise contract!  Read on below and thanks to writer Kip for catching this one.  –Mike2GuysTalking

Source: Comics Continuum

Executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick have decided that Season 4 of Sci Fi’s Battlestar Galactica, will be its last.

According to the network, they will use the 22-episode season, currently in production, to draw the saga of humanity’s struggle for survival to a close.

“This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and finally, an end. Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms,” Eick and Moore said in a statement.

“On a personal level, it’s been a creative privilege and an honor for all of us who work on the show and we know we’ll be lucky to ever see its like again. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there we’re going out with a bang.”

“We respect the producers’ decision to end the series and are proud to have been the home of this groundbreaking show. We have always known that Ron and David had a plan for Galactica and trust that fans can look forward to a truly amazing final season,² said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Sci Fi.

Production on the final 22 hours of season 4 is currently underway in Vancouver. An extended two-hour episode, “Razor,” will premiere in November, setting the stage for the rest of the season to commence in 2008.

The executive producers are staging a press conference on Friday and look for details of that soon here in The Continuum.
