Less Lost Is More

May 26th, 2008 by ESBaker

By JAMES PONIEWOZIK

The producers of Lost have found the secret to resuscitating a great TV show: make less of it. Last year, in the middle of a third season that was criticized by fans as slow and aimless, they proposed to end the hit show after three more seasons of 16 episodes each, six or so fewer than a typical TV-drama season. ABC, stunningly, agreed, though it had the contractual right to frog-march the lucrative property ahead for as many seasons as it liked.

Plotting its own demise was Lost’s best innovation yet. Some big-network hits, like Mary Tyler Moore and Seinfeld, have gone out on top but not with an end planned years in advance. Others limp to the finish; next season is the last for ER, which began airing back when physicians used leeches to drain the body of ill humors.

Prison Break, season 4: new faces

May 21st, 2008 by Prison Break Mary

Hollywood Reporter states that Michael Rapaport will be among the new faces we will see in season 4. Rapaport, whom we have seen in My Name is Earl and Friends among others, will play a government agent that will make an interesting offer to Michael and Lincoln.
There will also be a nerd hacker named Roland Glenn who is going to help them, but he has a big mouth and this will get him into trouble.

Prison Break, season 4: episode one has a name

May 21st, 2008 by Prison Break Mary

According to TVSpoiler episone one of the new season will be named “Skylla”.
In the Greek mythology Skylla was a monster that was guarding, together with Charyvdi, a narrow sea passage forbidding the entrance to whomever wanted to cross it. The passage is today’s Bosporus. Skylla had 6 heads on very long necks, and grabbed the sailors off their boats. Jason managed to cross the passage and Hercules fought the monster.
Why chose a title like this? Is this a hint for what is upcoming? Does this mean that Michael will have to face ”monstrous” difficulties in his quest to take down the company? Probably yes.
And bear in mind that after Skylla always comes a Charyvdi.

Prison Break: those tattoos are removed!

May 21st, 2008 by Prison Break Mary

Season 4 might hold some nasty surprises for fans (no, not again someone’s decapitation) but something having to do with Michael’s tattoos.
According to eonline, Wentworth Miller revealed that this year will have his tattoos removed. It is so disappointing, since the tattoos were big part of the plot in season 1 and 2, although we didn’t get much of them in season 3. I think that they should keep them. OK, they might remind Michael a very bad part of his life, and the ordeal he has gone under, but they also remind him that he was successful saving his brother’s life and the fact that he met the woman of his life.
So maybe he can keep them as a kind of trophy. Like the scars veterans of war have, to remind them they’ve gone through hell and survived. And thinking reasonably, removing such an extensive tattoo will not be the easiest thing in the world.
According to eonline Wentworth said that the 4th season will be like “the Dirty Seven” with all our guys joining forces to battle the Company. Well, we can’t wait.
Officially, season premiere will be aired on August 25!

My Observations: LOST—Episode 4X12: There’s No Place Like Home, part 1

May 17th, 2008 by ESBaker

Oceanic Six
So we get to see the Oceanic 6 being transported to Honolulu. The copilot does not feel good about the cargo. He thinks that they are bad mojo. Does he know something that most people don’t know? After all, if castaways are found, people usually rejoice about them. Neither the pilot nor the copilot was very happy about their transport. Did they witness what the Oceanic 6 had to do to be saved? Something was definitely not right about this rescue mission.

We get to see the Oceanic 6, and they look dazed. Why? Once again, I think that they had to do something terrible to get on that plane. What sort of deal did they break? When the Oceanic 6 were interviewed by the reporters, it was obvious that the castaways were lying. We know that the story they were telling was not true. Kate was not Aaron’s mother. Not only that, but she said that she was 6 months pregnant when the plane crashed and that Aaron was now 5 weeks old. Couldn’t the reporters see through the lie? How on earth can you try to pass a 3-month old as a 5-week old? There is no way! Aaron is holding his head on his own and he is huge. A 5-week old is a helpless baby whose head you must keep secured. The neck is not strong enough to hold the head up. What a farce. I am looking forward to seeing how this little faux pas is explained.

What about Sun’s lie. It was obvious that they were all uncomfortable as to what she was going to say about Jin’s whereabouts. She lied. They all knew that she lied. Is Jin back on the island trying to save it from going to Widmore? Something’s up. And, Sun knows that something’s up. She uses her share of the Oceanic settlement to buy a big share into her father’s company. She knows that her father is involved in a sham, that’s for sure. How did she learn that? Ben?

Family renewal scene had a lot of pathos. I cried. I noticed that, however, the Paik family was hugging a cold fish. Sun was not thrilled to seeing them. It was sad to see that Sayid had no one to greet him. (Of course, later on, we get to see that Nadia was there for him after all.) How great was Hurley to include him in with his family? Hurley, you are the sweetest guy on LOST. I just get mad at all the fat jokes that you are part of. LOST cut this shit out already. In fact, cut the Jate/Skate dilemma and the fat jokes. Then you will be greatest show to ever hit the TV screens so far. Oh, what I am saying? You are the GREATEST SHOW TO EVER HIT THE TV SCREENS so far.

A Word About the Hiltons…

May 13th, 2008 by Mike2GuysTalking

I have to ask everyone that reads here at the TelevisionReviewBlogs.Com - What is the attraction at all of Paris and her sister Nikki?  Is it the cash?  Is it the proverbial shock appeal of a relatively timid sex tape showcasing?  Are you REALLY interested in “what she’ll say next?”  Is Nikki a celebrity or just the sister of a celebrity? Well, we’ll apparently know more soon as there is a series of 6 mini-webisodes showcasing - you guessed it - Nikki and Paris Hilton.

Is this a testing of the proverbial television waters?  Can we expect potentially HD-ParisVision in the next 6 months?  Again, I have no idea what the viable interest is - can you help me understand it?  Read on below to be informed via a post I got from Miranda at TVGuide recently.  It includes a number of items that are showcased via TVGuide as well as a variety of websites that give you “some of the best dish” - most of which I have no interest in, but hey - it’s all about perspective here at The TelevisionReviewBlogs.  Be sure to chime in with what YOU think!  -Mike2GuysTalking

”Lost”: Cabin Boy

May 11th, 2008 by ESBaker

As Locke leads Ben and Hurley on a quest to find Jacob, we learn that since his childhood, people have been trying to draw him to the Island
By Jeff Jensen

Last night was for us. The cultists. The obsessives. The crazies who have committed to this long, strange trip and gotten lost in it. Like the candy bar Hurley generously shared with Ben while Locke was chatting with the spectral squatters inside Jacob’s shack (a nod to the Neo-Oracle-cookie scene in The Matrix?), ”Cabin Fever” was an episode packed with a chunky abundance of brain-fattening cryptonuggets to nourish our fevered theory making and message-board blustering. Comic-book references. Biblical allusions. Mythological connections. Double meanings to scores of lines. I loved Hurley’s ”theory” that he, Ben, and Locke were chosen for this vision quest because they were the craziest ones on the Island. This in an episode whose ’50s-set flashbacks evoked, fittingly, AMC’s Mad Men and whose thematic concern with fate mirrors that of No Country for Old Men, a narrative about three men dangling on sanity’s thread, though at different points. Amid the clues, red herrings, and tomfoolery, I saw in the episode a fiendishly clever love letter to those of us who’ve become so locked up inside Lost that they’ve been somewhat deliriously messed up by it. That’s really why they called it ”Cabin Fever.” Just my theory, but who knows? Maybe I’m just seeing things again.
