Michael Emerson (aka Benjamin Linus) Talks ‘Lost’

June 30th, 2009 by ESBaker

For those of us who are avid fans, LOST has been an amazing show. There are no other shows like it on TV. Every season is unique. Season 2, however, introduced the best villainous character to surface on TV as of yet. This character is brilliantly played by Michael Emerson. Screenrant.com has a nice little article about the show and, courtesy of collider.com, there’s a nice video interview, which I have taken the liberty to present it here to our readers. —ESBaker

Michael Emerson, who plays the sneaky, lying, methodical Benjamin Linus on ABC’s Lost, recently spoke with Collider about the show on the red carpet of the 2009 Saturn Awards (where Lost won Best Television Series). And Screen Rant (courtesy of Collider) has the video of the short interview for your viewing pleasure.

Matthew Fox has been the actor from the cast of Lost that has spoken the most publicly about his thoughts on the show’s mind-boggling fifth season, and of course the finale that left us all with eyes wide and drooling, with a million-and-one things to ponder until the sixth and last season starts in early 2010. But with Emerson playing one of the most interesting characters on the show (I don’t think the show gets better than when his character, Ben, is trading dialogue back and forth with John Locke), just what does he think of his role so far, the season 5 finale and the future/end of the Lost? Check out Collider’s video interview below to find out:

I think Emerson is completely right when he says the end of Lost will be bittersweet: It will truly be an end of an era, the end of a show unlike any other in terms of depth of mystery, storytelling and meaning. Not to sound too much like a “rah-rah” fanboy, but I really do think Lost is one of the greatest pieces of television ever conceived and I will be sad to see it go. I think when the final “LOST” title comes up on-screen I will then have to say to myself, “Well… what do I do now?”

[Warning: Some SPOILERS ahead]

However, having said that, I am very, very, very excited for what the writers have in store for us with how they’re going to bring Lost to a close. They have gotten us this far, with some some big risks being taken along the way (time-travel, moving the island, some of the survivors getting off the island two seasons before the end…), and I have every faith in them that they will bring the show to a satisfying conclusion. They’re not going to be able to please everyone and answer every single mystery they have created, but as long as they answer the big stuff - What is the smoke monster exactly? What is the nature of Jacob and the man in black? What the hell happened to the rest of the statue? - it will all be worthwhile.

[End of SPOILERS]

Are you still a fan of Lost? Do you think the show will have a satisfying ending?

The sixth and last season of Lost will premiere in early 2010.

Ready to Trade-In Your SUV for An Electric Car? Viewpoint from the Castle of Common Sense

June 24th, 2009 by Mike2GuysTalking

Are you ready to trade in your now devalued, “Evil” SUV, to take advantage of the new “electric car-populated highways” that awaits us in the near future. We didn’t think so either but hey - there are lots of viewpoints including that of Fast Freddie from his Castle of Common Sense Podcast. Check out “A Road Not Traveled?” the most recent entry from a grandfatherly, regularly-occurring voice of common sense…

Episode 33: Fast Freddie’s Castle of Common Sense Podcast:
A Road Not Traveled?
“I just want to make sure I understand the plan, Stan. We are in a recession which is, ordinarily, a part of normal economic cycles with the passage of time. This time we are approaching a 9% national unemployment rate as firms continue to fail and/or downsize with the struggling economy. The housing “bubble” has burst, decimating real estate nest eggs for people who counted on their home equity as a major cushion. Many retirees, having been hit with major financial losses in their retirement funds, have either returned to work or are considering a return to work…”

TwitBookSpacerPReSSLinkBlogaxoriffic!

June 20th, 2009 by Mike2GuysTalking

I’m trying to remember when I WASN’T telling people what I think about – SOMETHING.

When I was 11 years old, I can remember wanting to create my very own talk show. To be able to grab a topic, audience and bestow not only my perspective about what I’ve seen, heard, experienced, but also to collect the viewpoint of others who share or have a different opinion than I do.

While I’ve been an actor and artist since I was a kid, being able to take the artists, creative talent and turn it into my own stage didn’t really begin until 2004. I’ve been blogging about a variety of things since 2004. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to surround myself with a continually growing cast of people that provide perspective on things that are new, exciting and something we want to tell everyone about.

Over the years we’ve been exposed to a variety of tools that make telling people about “what we’re talking about” a lot easier and I wanted to make sure to share how we’re using “New Media” tool a wide array of tools have been invented to convey information to the largest amount of people possible.

Read on below and see how I’m using these great tools to increase the footprint of my own personal presence and that of The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network.

The Blog: I can’t emphasize enough how important having a “blog” has been for me and for The 2GuysTalking Podcast Network. The ability to chronicle what I experience, what my network is doing, and how other people can quickly find out anything you care to share at a chance and look at the history. While there’s always benefit in having something “custom”, anyone can set up and start their own blog in less than 5 minutes now. It’s a powerful part of any presence online and truly can act as a “core” of information transfer. The networking ability alone that a blog (especially when you join cool people in The St. Louis Bloggers Guild).

June 19th, 2009 by Mike2GuysTalking

Those of you that have yet to take the plunge into Mixed Martial Arts have a true treat THIS WEEKEND as season 9 of SPIKEs The Ultimate Fighter comes to a conclusion in what is listed as one of the “best available-for-free fights” ever!  It’s the Season 9 finale of The Ultimate Fighter on Spike and you are officially invited to participate in round-by-round online review action at SavageScience.Com!  Check out the review of this week’s episode below and follow the link to SavageScience.Com to learn more about the fun this weekend.  Have a great weekend and remember to tell us what YOU thought of this week’s ULTIMATE FIGHTER! -Mike2GuysTalking

Viewing Date: 6-18-2009
Show Title: Ultimate Fighter United States V United Kingdom: Week 12
Network: SpikeHD
Reviewed By: Mike Wilkerson

Just when we thought it was time for The Ultimate Fighter Finale - suddenly there’s one more week of fists-a-flyin’ action, providing us all but ONE of the series of fighters that will compete in the “series finale” that airs this Saturday. Ahh, the always-welcome double-dose of Mixed Martial Arts action in the Wilkerson household. This episode delivers some outstanding fight action, undeniable heart, and some of the series most vital and heartfelt quotes. Read on as we review week 12 of season 9 of The Ultimate Fighter on SPIKE for The Savage Science!

As with many of my online reviews, I’ll be reviewing this episode in a “stream of consciousness” format, giving you essentially what I’m thinking as the show airs. I encourage everyone to send feedback in regard to any of the points below and let’s use this opportunity sounding-off point to tell us what YOU think about this year’s Ultimate Fighter season.

– Hanging out with the guys: Something that we’ve seen little of this year (which is a good thing) is the fighters just “living”. In this episode, we see them collecting in the common areas and the patio to cook a feast of fighter proportions featuring ribs, steaks and more to help keep the hungry, blood-thirsty teams fed yet still “hungry” for victory.

Savage Science - MMA - an Oustanding Episode of “The Ultimate Fighter” on SPIKE…

June 13th, 2009 by Mike2GuysTalking

Ahh, the satisfying sounds of leather and flesh striking. It’s not some racy movie I’m watching - it’s what’s featured inside of THIS week’s “The Ultimate Fighter” review for SavageScience.Com and note - it’s my first “10 Skully” review EVER. Check it out by logging on via the link below and remember to tell me what YOU think so I can use your comments, thoughts and opinions in my season-ending “ALL FAN INPUT” review. It’s all part of a growing readership here at The 2GuysTalking Television Review Blogs! Let’s hear it! -Mike2GuysTalking

It’s week 11 of Spike’s “The Ultimate Fighter” and it’s never been clearer - the faster they get to the fights and discussion of them, the more satisfied I am. There are currently several reality/real-time fight shows in production via a variety of networks and I hope that ALL of them take into account the desires of people like me who want to get the details, and get straight to the action. The “drama” that sells so many other avenues of storytelling that Spike lost BIG with last year with The Ultimate Fighter needs to simply go away. Get us into the game like we start THIS 11th week of The Ultimate Fighter for SavageScience.Com! Let’s get to this week’s review!

– The fights are set via voiceover from Mike Rowe: I cannot tell you how much I love just having Mike Rowe set up the fights and we’re essentially into the first series of discussion about the fights, the comparison of training between the two teams, and eventually into fisticuffs. This is how ALL shows about fighting should be managed and they help to craft one of the best episodes EVER.
