Intro:

For those of you that haven’t gotten aboard the 24 train this year, you’re truly missing out!  I’m eager for those of you that are watching to contact us and let us know what you think not only about our “24 Podcast” but also what you think of this year’s showcase of Jack Bauer and company.  Remember that we’ll be using your comments and input to power this season’s “ALL FAN INPUT Episode” which will feature all of the greatest input we’ve gotten from fans over the season and more!

These reports are designed to showcase just how much advertising is lost on a community (whether they be Deaf, Hard of Hearing, etc) and also help to serve a a marker for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community who can better understand WHO DOES and who doesn’t deserve business. Let’s get straight to the next “Caption Count” session for the fourteenth hour of season 7 of “24″ on Fox…

Sprint Mobile Broadband: In addition to allowing Jack to save the day, Sprint leads the way not only in mobile internet connectivity, but CLOSED CAPTIONING!  Thanks, Sprint, and we’re proud to be part of the continuing efforts to get the message out to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community!

Liberty Mutual Insurance: Thank you, Liberty Mutual!

Knowing Movie Commercial: Apparently the closed captioning for this commercial wasn’t featured inside the code that the little boy and Nick Cage read during this film.  Too bad.

KFC Famous Bowls: Thanks to one of the fastest growing franchises in history for providing closed captioning in their commercials!

Old Navy:
A special thank you to Old Navy for not only providing some of Jack’s greatest clothing, but closed captioning for this episode.

Axe Deodorant: While a terribly entertaining commercial, this Axe Deodorant ad gets the axe this week because it has no captioning at all.  Now THAT stinks.

Taco Bell: Perhaps Taco Bell should add a 5th shift to provide the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community with closed captioning since this commercial featured NO CAPTIONS whatsoever.

Mercedes Benz: Not only are they on the cutting edge of creating some of the most innovative automobiles in history, they’re also a provider of closed captions during this advertisement.  Thanks Mercedes.

Bones: I continue to be amazed that so many advertisements for Fox programs have NO CLOSED CAPTIONING at all.  While I think this show has some great moments, no one watching the commercial in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community will ever know if the commercial isn’t captioned.  Currently, I see a skull and crossbones on “BONES” television watching potential.

Audi:
Audi could clearly take some cues from Mercedes Benz, and provide closed captioning to their advertisements.  That’s the way it Audi be.

US Cellular:
Again, stark(wood) contrast between US Cellular and Sprint.  Sprints ads have closed captioning, US Cellulars do not.

BP Gasoline:
Profits must truly suck - how on Earth a gasoline company isn’t able or interested in providing closed captions to their ads talking about how they’re saving the Earth sounds like they too have run out of gas.

Fox 2 News:
I’m not entirely sure how the news station that 24 appears on is going to get their tasty news tidbits to the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community with no closed captioning.

American Idol:
For a show that is so incredibly popular and garnering watchers from all walks of life, I am continually amazed at the lack of closed captioning for their advertisements.

Citifinancial: One of the few companies I don’t mind paying money for my auto loan, is the same one that provides closed captioning to their advertisements during “24″.  Kudos to Citifinancial.

Abilify:
Its one of the many drugs that are becoming more and more used by people across the planet, but it’s also one that provides closed captions.  Learn more about Abilify via the link above and thanks to them for providing closed captions.

Diet Mountain Dew: Kudos to a great drink for providing closed captioning during their commercials!

Honda: Provided no captioning during this episode for their commercials.

Lowes: Not only do they have some of the greatest add-ons for your home, they also feature closed captioning during their commercials.  Thank you, Lowes.

Bolt DVD Commercial: A very shocking development indeed - there is no captioning in the advertisement for this feature film.

Killzone 2: Looks like something else that’s dead in the realm of Killzone is that they have no interest in Deaf and Hard of Hearing dollars - ie no captioning inside of their advertisements.

DirecTV: While it’s not the sole reason I left their services last week, it IS something that the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community review when selecting a service to pay thousands of dollars a year to.  I’m also VERY disappointed that their pay-per-view and on-demand services offer NO CLOSED CAPTIONING either.

Dennys: This is terribly surprising from a company that’s had enough discrimination suits levied against it to create an entirely new class of litigation.  No captioning from Denny’s.

Ford Commercial: A great big motorized “thank you” to Ford, who not only provide a great and entertaining commercial, but closed captioning to get the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community involved with their business.

Wyoming Tourism: I’ve never been there, but this uncaptioned commercial isn’t going to scare up any interest of in my household or anyone in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community.

Mazda Commercial: A great big motorized “what the hell happened” to Mazda, who need to remember that when looking to spend money on something as expensive as a car, the little things matter in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community.

La Quinta Inn: When traveling on vacation, it is often told that hotel costs are the most expensive payout that a family has.  La Quinta goes a long way to make sure that the Deaf and Hard of Hearing families are going to take a moment to consider them by having closed captioned ads.  Thanks so much, LaQuinta!

Nissan: For a company that makes some of the nicest cars on the planet, they sure haven’t yet bothered to capture the attention of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community.  How about some closed captions on those ads, Nissan?

Visa Check Card: It’s something you’ve probably not even thought of, but is YOUR bank using closed captioned commercials?  You might learn about something new that you might not have and I know that I’m fortunate to not only have a Visa Check Card via my bank, but also closed captions during their commercials.  Thanks Visa!

Duplicity Feature Film: For a supposed-blockbuster springtime movie, there sure are a lot of captions missing.

Webmd: I suppose it’s a good thing that the company’s name is so straightforward, and it’s website is text-based, because their commercials are clearly lacking in the closed captioned department.  No love from the Deaf and Hard of Hearing for Webmd.

Number of Commercials/Closed Captioned Candidates: 33
Number of Commercials WITH Closed-Captioning: 11

Can you imagine “hearing” 33% of whatever television show, radio show, movie or radio program and being satisfied?  We didn’t think so!
