Robert at Di Olívas prepares a wonderful Orange Szechuan pasta with Saté sauce, we revisit our friends a Hendrick's BBQ, learn about what's happening (literally) on the streets from Scott Tate at the Greater St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, and we visit a wonderful community resource in St. Peters called The Family Vision.

StreetScape
Episode 16 -  January 2013

In Episode #16 of StreetScape, we meet a lot of amazing women, find ways to overcome the winter blues, and learn about what customers want from business as well as special needs planning.

Let's begin by introducing you to Zan Aufderheide, a comedian from the Midwest who's making people laugh all winter long.

Melody Black and Linda Baker-Crimm are two enterprising women who really want to work with and help other women grow their businesses through Empowering, Encouraging, and Educating them, so they created the E3W Women's Networking.

In this episode, we stopped by The Powder Room where every visit is an experience, whether it is to get a new hair style, a manicure, a relaxing massage, a makeover, or to shop in the unique boutique. Barb Crane and Melody Black at The Powder Room make every visit special.

We wish you could smell this episode! ScentFromHome creates locally-made candles, incense and balm that are long lasting and smell so wonderful. Linda Baker-Crimm also has some wonderful gift ideas.

You have probably heard about Juice Plus, but do you know why it is so good for you? Terri Schulze shares with us the reasons that Juice Plus is such a great way to bridge the gap between what we should eat every day, and what we actually do eat.

Scott Tate from the Greater St. Charles County Chamber of Commerce explains what customers like about businesses who join the chamber of commerce.

It's become a medically-recognized fact that some people get depressed during the winter months, and much of that has to do with shorter days and less bright light. Combine that with the fact that the cold drives many people indoors where the temptation is to over-eat and not exercise, and you've got a recipe for the blues. We share some tips of how to win out over Old Man Winter!

Ivy Hartman takes us to Main Street in St. Charles for the Fete de Glace - the annual Ice Carving Competition which will take place on January 26th this year!

When people begin to plan their finances, they sometimes have the added concern of planning for a loved one with special needs. Todd Gentry from MetLife is here with us once again to give us some words of wisdom.

Who is Aprille Trupiano? At the end of every episode she says "you can find me at AprilleTrupiano.com" but how many of you have actually gone to that site and learned about all of the other things that this multi-talented woman is involved in? Well, here's Aprille to tell you what she does when she isn't working on this show.

For years, Mercy Hospital and their medical centers haven't had a strong presence in the St. Charles area. Well, that's about to change in a big way.

Robert, our favorite olive oil guru at Di Olívas, whips up a yummy dish for us this month: Fig and Almond Rangoon!

UMB Bank was founded in 1913 and is based right here in the Midwest. Judy Peters sat down with Michelle Nischbach to discuss some of ways UMB is trying to help people through these tricky financial times.

On past episodes we've featured several of the restaurants owned by distinguished serial entrepreneurs Ami Grimes and Gurpreet Padda. This month we're going to one of their more unusual venues which is located in the Grove area of St. Louis. Check out this segment on "Sanctuaria."

Todd Gentry, a financial planner with Metlife, has given us lots of advice about retirement planning. Well Todd is back with us to discuss "financial health", so get out a pen and take some notes. Todd's advice will help you sleep better!
